Progressions, returns & profections

A guide to timing methods and what they actually calculate.

A symbolic lens.
Your choices remain yours.

Secondary progressions

Secondary progressions symbolically advance the natal chart one day for each year of life. A progressed Moon is therefore different from the current transiting Moon. Different conventions for angles require careful study.

Solar and lunar returns

A return chart is cast for the moment a transiting body reaches its natal longitude. Location and exact time can affect its angles. A solar return is not simply a chart for midnight on a birthday.

Annual profections

Annual profections advance the activated whole-sign house by one for each year of age, returning to the first house at multiples of twelve. Traditional readings connect the activated sign to its ruler. Asteria explains these methods but does not currently calculate return or progression charts.
