Traditional foundations

Hellenistic, medieval, and early modern astrology emphasize the seven visible planets, rulership, dignity, houses, and timing techniques. Many practitioners distinguish sect and use whole-sign houses. These traditions are related but not identical.

Modern approaches

Modern Western astrology often adds Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto and emphasizes psychological themes. Some schools assign these planets modern rulerships; others keep traditional rulers while using the outer planets. Asteria labels both where applicable.

Learn in context

A technique’s meaning depends on its tradition. Avoid mixing a dasha, a progressed Moon, and a traditional profection as if they were interchangeable. The library introduces techniques; its calculation tools focus on tropical natal astrology.
